Terms of service

Last updated

SetPoint runs padel tournaments: it plans the rounds, keeps score and saves the results. These terms are the agreement between you and SetPoint when you use the SetPoint app or the website at setpointlive.com. By using SetPoint you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use it.

The short version

  • SetPoint is free, and you can use it without an account.
  • What you put into SetPoint stays yours. We only use it to run SetPoint for you.
  • You're responsible for what you add and share, including other people's names.
  • Check results that matter, and keep a backup of anything you'd hate to lose.
  • We can take down a shared tournament or close an account that breaks these terms.
  • South African law applies.

Who we are

SetPoint is run from South Africa. In these terms “we” and “us” mean SetPoint, and “you” means anyone who uses it: an organiser, a player, a helper or someone watching. For anything about these terms, email feedback@setpointlive.com.

What SetPoint keeps about you, where it goes and how long it's kept is in the privacy policy.

Using SetPoint and accounts

What you put into SetPoint

Your tournaments, players, teams, scores and feedback stay yours. You let us store them, copy them and show them only as far as SetPoint needs to work: keeping them on our server when you're signed in, syncing them to your other devices, and showing a tournament to anyone with its link once you share it. That permission ends when you delete them or your account, apart from the short while the privacy policy says some copies are kept.

Most of what goes into a tournament is other people's names. Only add people who are happy to be in your tournaments, only tag someone Female or Male if they're happy for you to, and keep names and tournament names fit for anyone to read. Never put someone's private details, like a phone number or ID number, into a name.

Sharing and helpers

When you share a tournament, anyone with its link or QR code can see it, so only share it with people you want to see it. You can stop sharing at any time.

You decide who helps run your tournament. A helper you say yes to can enter scores and, if you allow it, change who's playing, so only say yes to people you trust. You're responsible for your tournament and what your helpers enter in it, and you can remove a helper at any time. If you're a helper, only do what the organiser asked you to.

Things you mustn't do

Results and scores

SetPoint plans rounds and works out the leaderboard from the scores entered into it. We work hard to get it right, but we can't promise that every schedule, score, leaderboard or finish time is correct. If something rides on a result, like a prize or a ranking, check it yourself. Arguments about a result are for the players and the organiser to settle.

Your data and backups

Without an account, your tournaments only exist on your device. Clearing SetPoint's data, losing your phone or using Reset storage deletes them, and we can't get them back. With an account, keep a backup too: Export backup in Settings saves everything to a file.

The service

SetPoint is free, and it's provided as it is. We may change it, add features, take features away, or pause it to fix or improve it, and it may sometimes be unavailable. If we ever add paid features, we'll show their price and terms before you pay. If we ever close SetPoint's server, we'll say so in the app first, wherever we can, so you have time to export a backup.

The SetPoint app, its design, its name and its logo belong to us. You're welcome to use SetPoint, but not to copy it or pass it off as your own. Continue with Google is also covered by Google's terms.

Stopping

You can stop using SetPoint whenever you like. Delete account in Settings deletes your account and everything stored with it on our server.

We can turn off a shared link, remove a helper, or suspend or delete an account if it breaks these terms or the law, or to protect people or SetPoint. Wherever we can, we'll tell you why first.

What we're responsible for

Please read this part carefully. SetPoint is free and comes with no promises beyond the ones in these terms. As far as the law allows, we're not responsible for any loss that comes from using SetPoint or not being able to use it. That includes lost data, a wrong result, and a tournament that didn't run the way it was meant to.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights the law gives you that can't be signed away, or limits our responsibility for loss we cause through gross negligence or on purpose.

Changes to these terms

When we change these terms, we'll update this page and put the new date at the top. If a change matters, we'll also say so in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using SetPoint after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree with them, stop using SetPoint and delete your account.

Disagreements and the law

If something goes wrong, email us first and we'll try to put it right. These terms are governed by the law of South Africa, and its courts can settle any dispute about them. If you live somewhere else, you keep any rights your own country's law gives you.
